The first week of May will be an exciting week; we get two chances to get new comics! Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday, May the 4th. Be sure to stop and support your local comic store. This week will be a little different... I'm going to highlight a few books that release on Wednesday, and some of the books that come out on Saturday.
Top Picks of the Week:
Hashtag: Danger #1
AHOY Comics will be releasing their new series Hashtag: Danger #1 this week. Erik Larsen states, " HASHTAG: DANGER! is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and, as we all know, sliced bread is pretty great—vastly superior to unsliced bread which has to be pulled apart with your fist like an animal." This series is going under radar right now. Be sure to check it out.
DC has their newest event coming out this week with DCeased. Darkseid has gained the Anti-Life Equation and has infected Cyborg with it. With Cyborg accidentally sending out an techno-virus, turning all of Metropolis into Darkseid's mindless zombie horde. Written by Tom Taylor with art by Trevor Hairsine. Be sure to keep an eye out for our in-depth look into the Anti-Life Equation.
Savage Avengers #1
Marvel Comics has a new Avengers team coming out this week, Savage Avengers. A team built with some of the fiercest killers in the Marvel Universe. With the first team appearance of Wolverine, Punisher, Conan the Barbarian, Elektra, Brother Voodoo, and Venom. This issue will also have the first appearance of the Marrow God and the City of Sickles. Written by Gerry Duggan with art by Mike Deodato.
Free Comic Book Day Books
FCBD Spider-Man #1 is by the same creative team of the hit new series Venom, Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman. This book sets up the "Absolute Carnage" event that starts this August. Plus, in another special FCBD story, creators Tom Taylor, Saladin Ahmed, and Cory Smith take Peter Parker and Miles Morales on a new adventure that will set up something for later this year as well.
Image Comics is releasing a Spawn #1 reprint, with new cover art from Francesco Mattina. The road to Spawn #300 is getting closer, and with the new movie on the horizon this might not be a bad pick-up.
Source Point Press
Source Point Press is releasing a completely new series for the fans this weekend. Hope is about a mother who is a superhero that keeps the secret from her family. Until an unexpected turn on a family outing. Hope has been created by Dirk Manning and K Lynn Smith.
