The POP Cover Of The Week is simply a red and white knockout: "Daredevil #12"

Sometimes, the POP Cover Of The Week is chosen because the overall concept is clever, or symbolic, or colorful. Sometimes it’s just a smash-mouth LOOK AT ME statement. This week’s featured cover is all of those in one.

Julian Totino Tedesco’s cover for Daredevil #12 is a simple, impactful high-contrast splash of red and white that doesn’t sit still. It’s a whirlwind of motion (and someone actually gets smashed in the mouth). Tedesco’s art style is raw, textured, and fluid, tied together by the elegant wavy lines of the billy club and mask tails.

The cover illustration takes artistic license with the interior story, in that Matt Murdock doesn’t wear an all-white costume, merely a white mask, and doesn’t use a white version of his billy-club, but let it slide for artistic impact and the White Knight symbolism.

Add Marvel’s current ultra-understated trade dress (the publisher’s logo, issue number, creative credits. etc. and the dynamic Daredevil title logo that the cover cannot contain, and this week’s POP Cover Of The Week is a knockout.

Daredevil #12 is on sale October 2, 2019.
